Rabbi Ruth Abusch-Magder, Ph.D. will be teaching a two-part workshop, open to all parents and guardians; no background in Jewish text is necessary. The workshop will be held on Dec. 8 and 15 at 8:30 am.
If we are each created in the image of God (as we are told in the first chapter of Genesis), what are we to make of those parenting moments when neither we nor our children are paragons of virtue? Parenting is potentially both the most fulfilling and the most frustrating job a person can do. We will turn to biblical stories to help us make sense of our roles as parents. Delving into familiar tales, we will look for new insights into the dual worlds of the text and of our own experience, to find humor, inspiration, and comfort.
There will be a fee of $15 per one-hour session. If you have any questions, please call (973) 275-1789.
Rabbi Abusch-Magder is the Rabbi-in-Residence at Be'chol Lashon and a frequent author and teacher of Jewish topics.
