Past President Carol Mills

A warm hello to my friends and fellow congregants at Beth Israel-Judea.

BIJ has been my family’s Jewish home for 17 years.  My husband and I have made new friends here.  My daughters were named in our sanctuary and we celebrated a bat-mitzvah here just 2 years ago.

When people ask me about Beth Israel Judea I am finding that there is a lot to say.  Our BIJ is a joyous and giving community.  Our congregants have put in countless hours volunteering in many ways.  People are willing to lend a hand, join a committee, design a brochure, assist in the office, cook, deliver some cheer and some food to an ill friend, sing at services, plan events, encourage us all to take social action, wash our tallitot, chant from the Torah, prepare for the Passover Seder, wrestle with our financial planning, donate money to our synagogue, bring a traveling minyan to someone who has been unable to come to shul, plan for our religious school and our adult educational needs, deepen our spiritual connections, extending our welcome throughout our community and beyond, , and help in  many other countless ways.

At BIJ, I have found people who are generous with advice, a warm hug, a shared story, a joke, a listening ear.  The more I learn about our community, the more excited, happy and honored I am to have the opportunity to represent this unique and wonderful community as President of the Board of Trustees.
